The Novel old man and sea is written in 1951 ad published in 1952. In the year 1953 it awarded the Pulitzer prize for fiction. The setting of the novel is Cuba. If we talk about the main character in novel we see there are only three character; old man, mandolin and Marlin.  Santiago ( old man) was not able to catch the fish from last 84 days and because of that he was declare as salao. So, finally he desied to go to middle of the sea ; Gulf stream for fishing. He finally able to catch Marlin but it takes three days to come back to seashore. During this time when he feels he is loosing his hope he  dreams about the lion.
