Old man and the sea.

The Novel old man and sea is written in 1951 ad published in 1952. In the year 1953 it awarded the Pulitzer prize for fiction.

The setting of the novel is Cuba. If we talk about the main character in novel we see there are only three character; old man, mandolin and Marlin.  Santiago ( old man) was not able to catch the fish from last 84 days and because of that he was declare as salao. So, finally he desied to go to middle of the sea ; Gulf stream for fishing.

He finally able to catch Marlin but it takes three days to come back to seashore. During this time when he feels he is loosing his hope he  dreams about the lion. During this struggle we found most famous lines of Novel

" A man can be destroyed but cannot be defeated."

Here in this blog I am answering some of the questions which are part of my thinking activity.

1. Can you mark a critical phase of your life.

When I was in my 10th standard I have pain of appendix. That terrible night i still remember. Next day there was paper of Matchs. That was a paper of my bords prilim exam. If I was not able to give the paper next day then I will not able to give bord exam. That was the critical time of my life. It was question of my career. But I found two person in my life at that time who work for me as an Angle. First my mother who used to set outside the school so if there is any problem she can some immediately for me. And the other is my teacher who take care for me inside.  Because of his request they allow me change my block. Even because of him they allow me to give exam though I was late.

2.  Do you have any such person whom you recall in the crisis?

Whenever there is phase of crisis  I always look towards my mother. Looking towards her and her life struggle I always found courage.

3. What is the importance of that person? Why?

As I mentioned my mother is my strength. When there is problematic situation I always talk to her. She never force me to do something but instead she shows me the different side of situation. And tell me now look this different side and take desision. And she always support me in  my every  desision.

4. What is the importance of dream of lions in the novel?

Lion comes three time in the novel. We see that when old man is facing problem and when he is loosing hope that time lion come  in his dream. This show that lion is strength provider for old man.

5.     Do you have any such scene or image you frequently like to visit?
                 And
6.     What is the reason of your obsession for that scene?

No, there is no such scene in my life. Because I am still in protection of my family and my parents. Which allows me to live comfortably. So there is no such scene on my life.

7. Replace the old man with yourself. How would be the approach if you fail like the old man in life?

As failure is part of life. Everyone can't success everytime. Aap success is perment the same manner failure is laos not perment. As this Novel also speak that " man can destroyed but cannot be defeated"  the same way I will also keep trying.
